Two people were injured in a crash on U.S. 35 and 400 N. in Starke County Thursday, February 13 in the afternoon.
Deputies from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash that involved entrapment. Upon arrival, fire personnel from Hamlet-Davis Township, Koontz Lake-Oregon Township, and Knox-Center Township Fire Departments worked diligently on extracting both parties in separate vehicles.
Once extricated, Starke County EMS personnel began life saving measurements until both drivers were flown to a regional hospital by Memorial and Lutheran Air helicopters.
Police say a witness in this matter advised that a Jeep was traveling north on U.S. 35 when it lost control on the icy roadway. This vehicle, driven by 76-year-old W. Dolinski, struck a southbound pickup truck driven by 40-year-old T. Bulington, of Knox, according to the report.
U.S. 35 was shut down with the assistance of the Knox City Police Department until the scene could be cleared by Howard’s Towing.
This investigation is still pending.
